Vair Training delivered two courses in Trinidad & Tobago this December: Financial Modeling & Analysis and Project Finance Advanced Modeling. Financial Modeling technical, analytical and commercial skills, as well as Project Finance-specific training, were covered over the course of two 2-day programs.
Eager to rebound from the current economic slowdown, practitioners from NGC, Delta Logistics, Caribbean Development Bank, First Caribbean International Bank, Ernst & Young, IFC and UNIPET filled the classroom.

Vair Training and the law firm of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP delivered a Master Class in New York this month: Public-Private Partnership Advanced Modeling with Legal Analysis. Financial Modeling technical, analytical and commercial skills were imparted during the 2-day workshop before applying the techniques to PPP-specific models, case studies and adding legal analysis. During this hands-on course, participants were taught how to "dovetail models and contracts" and "negotiate off the model".
A full session, the workshop was attended by delegates from Keating, Halcrow, ING, NordLB, PFM, Dawson Real Estate, Lloyds and Societe Generale. More PPP-specific training will be offered in the US in 2011! Check our training calendar for upcoming dates and locations.

Vair Training is honored to partner again with the Canadian law firm, Torys, LLP, for two courses in Toronto this coming January: Financial Modeling & Analysis and Public-Private Partnership Advanced Modeling with Legal Analysis. Torys Partner and PPP-specialized attorney, Jonathan Weisz, will offer a unique legal perspective to compliment Vair's advanced modeling and commercially-driven course. During this hands-on workshop, participants will be taught how to "dovetail models and contracts" as well as to "negotiate off the model".
The PPP class will be prefaced by a 2-day "general" financial modeling course, also led by Vair Head Trainer, Charles "Chip" Haskell.

The classroom was filled with practitioners in the Canadian PPP sector, including delegates from EDC, PPP Canada, New Brunswick Power and AECOM.

The Public-Private Partnership train pulls into Grand Central Station this November when Vair Training will deliver another high-caliber modeling course. 'PPP Financial Modeling & Legal Analysis', in association with McKenna, Long and Aldridge, LLP, will take place November 16-17 in New York City.
After completing workshops in Ottawa in September, Vair will bring its PPP course stateside to train industry analysts and decision-makers. This is a one-of-a-kind, hands-on training event for individuals and organizations working in the rapid-growing PPP space.

Bookending the World Cup Semi-Finals in Durban, South Africa, Vair Training conducted two financial modeling courses for KZN Growth Fund. Approximately 20 delegates participated in the 4-day training event that covered basic-to-intermediate financial modeling skills and more advanced modeling techniques and negotiations for Project Finance.

Vair Training begins a series of Public-Private Partnership open-enrollment courses in Ottawa this September. The program will consist of two consecutive, 2-day workshops: Financial Modeling & Analysis in Excel and PPP Advanced Financial Modeling & Legal Analysis. Led by active project developers, participants will build an extensive concessionaire bid model and learn to negotiate off the model. Prestigious law firms, including Bennett Jones, LLP and Torys, LLP, will provide legal-analysis components to the courses and demonstrate how to effectively dovetail models and contracts.
Subsequent PPP training will be conducted in Washington, DC and Toronto.

Beyond basic techniques to improve financial modeling efficiency and effectiveness, regionally-specific topics, such as CUCA and CUFIN tax laws, were addressed in the workshops.

University of Georgia's Terry College of Business hired Vair for the third consecutive year to host an MBA Financial Modeling workshop over the weekend 8-9 of January. The two-day cornerstone course was taught by Vair Training's Head Instructor, Charles 'Chip' Haskell and was attended by 60 of Terry College's MBA students.
The Terry College is the oldest business school in the state of Georgia with one of the most highly regarded MBA programs in the country. Students were taught how to conceive, build and test a financial model that will ultimately allow them to 'negotiate off the model' and correctly price the deal.
